Seeding Spring's Older and Newer Neighborhoods
Hydroseeding in Spring covers neighborhoods built over roughly fifty years. Spring's Wikipedia page traces the town to a trading post on Spring Creek in 1838 and to German families who farmed sugarcane, cotton and vegetables in the 1840s. Houston's suburbs pushed north in the 1970s, and subdivisions spread out around the old town. By 1990 the area had about 33,000 residents.
1970s and 1980s yards
The older subdivisions have lawns that are forty or more years old. Over that time, trees have grown, shade has spread, and St. Augustine has thinned or given way to weeds. Those yards rarely need a full tear-out. Overseeding, core aeration and a thin topsoil dressing bring them back for far less than new sod. Where a section is bare clay, we till and seed it fresh.
Creek-side lots
Spring Creek gave the town its first trading post in 1838, and Harris County's Pundt Park now sits on Spring Creek Drive. Lots that slope toward the creek or its tributaries lose soil every time a big storm hits a bare patch. For those slopes we use a heavier mulch with tackifier, and blankets where the grade is steep. During any construction or pool work, silt fence on the low side keeps mud out of the creek.
Big parks on the creek
Harris County runs Pundt Park, a 380-acre park on Spring Creek Drive, and Bayer Park, a 30-acre site with eleven lighted ball fields. Fields and park edges near the creek are the kind of large, open areas where hydroseeding gives fast, even coverage at a lower cost per square foot than sod.
New growth to the west and north
ExxonMobil opened a 9,000-employee campus beside the Spring area in 2014, which pulled more building into the surrounding area. New homes there come with builder-graded yards that need seed and sometimes a better grade.

Spring Questions
Can you bring back a 40-year-old St. Augustine lawn?
Often, yes. Aeration, topsoil and overseeding with a compatible grass can thicken an older lawn. Areas that are fully bare get tilled and seeded.
My yard slopes toward Spring Creek. Will seed wash away?
Not if it is protected. We use a heavier fiber mulch with tackifier and add blankets on the steepest parts.
Should a pool dig in Spring have silt fence around it?
It is a good idea anywhere soil is exposed near a slope or drain. We can set it before digging and seed the yard afterward.
Do you serve Spring addresses outside the CDP?
Yes, across the Spring mailing area.
