Keeping Up With Fulshear's Building Pace
Hydroseeding in Fulshear is mostly about speed and scale. Fulshear's Wikipedia page says the community had about 700 residents around 2008, passed 5,000 by late 2013, counted 16,856 at the 2020 census and was estimated at more than 64,000 by 2025. Growth exploded in the 2000s because of its closeness to Houston. Every one of those new homes started as a bare lot, and every subdivision has ponds, ditches and common ground that need vegetation before a builder can close out.
Old plantation and farm ground
Churchill Fulshear Sr. received a land grant in 1824 and ran a plantation that raised cotton, corn, rice, pecans and livestock. Fulshear incorporated in 1977, and the town has served as a market center for rice, cotton, soybeans, corn, sorghum and cattle. Farm ground is usually decent for grass, but years of tilling leave a plow pan a few inches down, and builders compact the surface further. Breaking up that layer before seeding lets roots go deeper and lawns ride out a Fulshear summer.
Builder close-out work
On a large site the order matters: silt fence and inlet protection first, then grading, then seed and mulch on each section as soon as it reaches final grade. Hydroseeding fits this well because one crew can cover acres of pond bank, easement and lot back in a day. We work in phases so that finished sections are covered while other crews are still digging.
Near the Brazos crossings
During the Texas Revolution, the Texan army trying to stop Santa Anna from crossing the Brazos River camped on the Fulshear plantation, and Mexican troops crossed nearby at Thompson's Ferry. Land toward the river is lower, and drainage on new lots in that direction needs attention before seeding.
For new homeowners
Many Fulshear homes close with sod only in the front and a bare backyard. Hydroseeding the back costs less than more sod and gives you a choice of seed.

Fulshear Questions
Can you seed a whole subdivision section in phases?
Yes. We seed each area as it reaches final grade so covered ground is not waiting on the slowest part of the job.
My Fulshear backyard is bare after closing. Hydroseed or sod?
Hydroseed usually costs less for a full backyard and lets you choose the grass. Sod gives instant cover if you need it right away.
Why loosen soil on old farmland?
Years of plowing and construction traffic pack a hard layer near the surface. Breaking it lets roots grow deeper and handle heat better.
Do you maintain silt fence until grass comes in?
Yes. We can inspect and repair fence after storms until the site is stabilized.
