Lake Lots and Creek Ground

Hydroseeding in Missouri City covers some of the oldest suburban ground southwest of Houston and some of the newest. Missouri City's Wikipedia page says Oyster Creek flows south through the city, and that developments grew from Fondren Park in the early 1960s and Quail Valley in the late 1960s to newer master-planned areas such as Lake Olympia and Riverstone. Sienna Plantation just south sits on land once farmed for sugarcane and cotton.

Lakes built into neighborhoods

Lake Olympia, Riverstone and other communities were built around man-made lakes. A lake lot looks great until the bank starts creeping into the water. Grass is the cheapest bank protection there is, but it only works if it gets established. We seed lake edges with a heavy fiber mulch that sticks to the slope and use blankets on short, steep banks, then leave the bank alone to root.

A zoned city

Unlike Houston, Missouri City has been zoned since 1981. Neighborhoods are mostly single-family homes, so most of our work here is residential: new backyards, lawns damaged by drainage or foundation repairs, and older yards in Quail Valley that need renovation after decades of shade and wear.

Parks and fields

The city's parks department maintains 20 developed parks totaling 515 acres with more than 14 miles of trail, lighted sports fields and lakes. Fields and trail edges are classic hydroseeding work: large, open areas that need even cover, often with a short window before they reopen.

Oil field and salt dome history

Oil was found at Blue Ridge, about 4 miles southeast of town, in 1919, and a salt mine opened there soon after. Clear Creek actually starts in the Blue Ridge oil field. Older industrial sites in that area being turned into homes may need fill brought in and graded before any lawn work starts.

Missouri City Questions

How do I stop my lake bank from washing into the water?

Get grass rooted on it. We reshape the bank top, seed with a heavy bonded mulch and add a blanket where it is steep.

Can you renovate an older Quail Valley lawn?

Yes. We aerate or till compacted areas, add topsoil where needed and overseed or reseed depending on how much turf is left.

Do you seed sports fields?

Yes. Fields are a good fit for hydroseeding because coverage is even and fast across large areas.

Is Missouri City part of your service area?

Yes, including the Fort Bend and Harris County portions.
